that number's been disconnected, honey

Ack! I have no internet access from my computer. It's not a very interesting story, so I'll keep it short. Ever since we went wireless at home, my computer relies on a wireless adapter for web access. Well, while we were in Vegas the adapter got left behind. I'm not gonna point any fingers or name any names, but let's just say the guilty parties know who they are (right, boys?)

So meanwhile I'm reduced to borrowing time on DH's laptop when he takes a break. Sigh. Is the UPS man here yet with my adapter? (Not liking the disconnect - can you tell?)

Here's some bouncy "music on hold" from Brian Setzer until I'm back up and running...

hi there!

Greetings from Vegas, NV!

We've been catching up on our zzzzzz's, relaxing, lounging and being generally LAZY here for our first day. Went to the pool for a bit yesterday, but we seriously need LOTS more quality water time before this vacation will be in full swing.

Last night I got my scrap on and made 12 cards from my card-making box (see this blog entry for more on that). The one at the top of this post was my fave, but here are some more:

sugar sugar

I'm all CANDY-ed out! Today was the Big Day and the party went off without a hitch. We played lots of Candy tunes, had Charlie and the Chocolate Factory playing on the big screen, made candy necklaces and just had a good old time!

Now we're in packing mode for our vacation tomorrow! What a crazy, hectic weekend this is.

almost

Here's an oldie-but-goodie layout I did for an ad scraplift challenge. The inspiration piece was actually a webpage design and I lifted it pretty close to the original (without too much effort, I bet you can picture those metal bar brads at the top as navigation buttons -lol!)

Almost seemed like a good theme for this post. It is definitely an "almost" night. It is almost time for Lib's party. Tomorrow should be pretty hectic as we take care of final details. It is almost time for my brother and his entourage to arrive from the east coast. Almost time to leave on our vacation (we are staying at the MGM Grand in the sweetest suites I've ever seen - woo hoo!) Almost time to find out the results of MMM.

I'm really looking forward to being past this weekend and all the flurry that it is sure to entail. It's supposed to be really hot this weekend and especially humid too. I'm really looking forward to being past the "almosts" and lounging by a splashy pool, or relaxing in a cushy room with plenty of refreshing a/c.

C'mon Monday! Are you almost here?

a very crafty week

Well, the week is half over and we have plenty to show for it. Monday and Tuesday were spent with a group of friends putting together a gift album. Most of the crafters in our group had never scrapbooked before, but they jumped in with both feet. We turned out 42 double page 8x8 spreads -- how's that for a productive group? In fact, we over-produced - there were too many to fit into our book so we had to remove 3 of the spreads.

Here are all the layouts spread out on a table:

Wow, that's a whole lotta layouts!

Once the book was done, my attention turned to the party this Saturday. We've been a regular little "candy" making factory! Here's a peek at what we've created:

We still have a few more little things to do before we're completely ready for the party, but we're definitely on our way. So, I can breathe a sigh of relief now and turn my attention to making a "what to pack" list for our vacation next week.

Whew!

look out weekend, here i come

Oh happy day, jury duty is now completed! I wish I'd remembered to take my camera because there were several times I wanted to take pics but oh well. The opp has passed!

In any case, now I can move on to the next list of endless "to do" items. I'm simultaneously working on a graduation (promotion) party for my daughter (next weekend), an 'instant' scrapbook project which needs to be mostly completed by Monday, a client project on Tuesday, two looming project deadlines for the LSS due on Friday, the arrival of my (east coast) brother, his girlfriend and my nephew next Saturday. Unfortunately, their vacation here starts right before we leave on vacation, so I will only be able to visit Saturday night and/or Sunday morning (hopefully) right before we leave for a week. Fortunately, they'll still be here for one day when we return the following weekend.

As I've mentioned in earlier blog posts this has been the most unruly summer. It thinks *IT* is in charge! I haven't managed to whip it into shape, but we are determined to try to squeeze what we can from those last remaining weeks before school resumes.

One thing I really wanted to do at least once this summer was make a trek into the Fashion District downtown. The SGT girls are always coming back with wonderful treasures and I was determined to go and do some treasure hunting of my own. I managed to squeeze a couple of hours browsing downtown on Wednesday. The day was hot and humid, time was limited, the budget was tight but I still managed to come away with a few delightful finds.

Here's a pic of some yummy trim I found:

jury duty

Busy doing my civic duty. Back soon!

hey you disney fans...

Kick off was a blast as usual. Here's a look at the Tink side of my table. There is room in this class and sign-ups are now open by phone.

Here's a look at the "Cars" side of the table. This layout was designed by Kristin Hayne for my October Intro class. I want to let advanced scrappers know that if you love Cars but don't want to sit in on a beginners' class, you can purchase the kit only as an add-on at a reduced price.

Here's how it works: if you purchase the "kit only" option it costs the same as the class and includes the 30-page workbook, but if you ONLY want the layout be sure to ask for the October Intro Class ADD-ON. This will give you just the layout kit (no workbook). To order by phone, call Scrappin' Good Times at (909) 305-0748.

melissa frances!

I really, really, really love Melissa Frances products, so it was a delight to meet her in person today. She is a cancer survivor and has been doing some awesome things in behalf of cancer research including designing her "Thankful" line (a portion of proceeds to to cancer research). She also had a couple of wonderfully altered bras from a contest (I think). She mentioned that more would be posted on the Melissa Frances blog later in the week. Here's a peek at the two I saw:

Singapore Sling

Aren't these too fun?

walk the line

I'm *SO* behind on movies - I just saw Walk the Line today (exactly how long ago was this one released?!?) The story was very interesting and I *loved* the music. I've never been a huge country music or Johnny Cash fan, but I think I might just need to download a few of his tunes.
