how hard could it be?

This week I challenged myself (and some friends) to take one photo per day starting last Tuesday through today. Now how hard could that be? Seriously?

Well, harder than I expected and I only managed to remember to snap pics 5 of the 7 days. Here is a sampling of the photos I took. Not sure yet how (or if) they'll end up in any scrapbooks.

Tue, 4/15 (tax day --eeek!) These baskets really represent what most of my week was all about - getting ready for the yard sale at the Lounge. Whew, lots of work but SOoooo happy to have thinned out my stash!

Wed, 4/16 - I got me a copy of the new Becky Fleck book. It is wonderful - a must have!!!

Thursday and Friday were the two days I forgot to take pics.

Sat, 4/19 - had the pleasure of my nephews and neice for the day. This is Bubbies "being a puppy".

Sun, 4/20 - Post yard-sale -- empty cartons. Woo hoo!!!

Mon, 4/21 -- back to walking in the early am with the Westfield Pacers. The lungs are complaining, so I'm having to be very diligent about using my inhalers.

And the week of photos is over, but hopefully I will be better about taking pics for awhile. I'm so bad about falling off the photo wagon.

get me a giant diet soda

My sister Cath treated me to a 12-hr crop at the LSS she works at (Scrapping Lounge). Here I am taking a "refreshment" break between pages.

This was for my In-N-Out layout. I was ready for a fresh, hot cheeseburger when I finished this layout.

and more CHA - queen & co.

Somehow I really missed the boat on taking pics in this booth. I don't know if it was just that I was so excited to see all of Kristin's creations or what. Anyway, these are the few I did snap:

First some cool felt:

I love how it was used on this frame:

spring cleaning the scrapbook stash

The birds are singing, the air is sweet and crisp and it's time to freshen the stash. Here are some purging tips for anyone out there who like me is trying to thin out their pile o' supplies:

What to purge
  • stuff you don’t like (kinda obvious, but bears saying)
  • stuff you have too much of (Can you reduce it by half? Can you live with 25% of what you have?)
  • stuff you don’t use any more or don’t want (ie “outdated style” stuff; colors or patterns you rarely use; partially used packages of stuff; tools that don’t suit you, etc.)
  • stuff you don’t realize that you don’t want (ask yourself: “If I had the time am I inspired to do a project using this stuff right now?” “Or am I saving it for ‘some day’ that may never come?”)

How to purge

  • Use a 3 box method: throw away, give away, sell
  • Sell it on ebay, at a yard sale, at the LSS (if yours does yard sales), through the Recycler (SoCal only) or Craig’s List
  • Send it to charity, schools & pre-schools, senior centers, community centers
  • Or give it away to friends, thru FreeCycle, or any other source that can use your discards
  • Be realistic with the junk -- throw it away if it is damaged, faded or otherwise unuseable

What to Keep:

  • Keep only the best of the best.
  • Keep only what you truly LOVE. Your home and your life will feel so much more peaceful and in control.

BTW, if you have some good places for donations, please share!

a fun fact

Well, I just found out that my blabbing can be measured in dollars and cents.

My blog is worth $8,468.10.
How much is your blog worth?

more CHA - Heidi Swapp

By now CHA stuff has surely already started rolling into your local SB store, but a lot of the pics I took were also project and inspiration pics so I'm going to keep loading them as time permits.

Next stop, Heidi Swapp:

we kicked it

Tonight was the bi-annual class kickoff at Scrappin' Good Times. We have such wonderful customers at our store and I love being able to see so many of these dear ladies all at once whenever there is a big store event like the kickoff. And, of course, as usual, there were lots of exciting new classes from all the teachers. I slid in at the last minutes with just about 20 minutes before the store re-opened. As I've done I'll week, I was running on empty and trying to catch up (more on that in a minute).

Here I am behind my table. This display is for the class I will be co-teaching with Kristin Hayne. It's a bright hot chipboard album entitled "Where's the Party?":

So, now after all is said and done this class was a winner - there was just one spot left at the end of the night. W00T! (BTW, if you are interested in the class, please be sure to call the store and put your name on the wait list so we can figure out whether we need to expand the class.)

As for what I've been up to for the last few weeks. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that it was taxes AGAIN! Yes, you read that right... those nasty taxes were BACK!!! This time, however, I was putting entries in for 2007. So, I am officially caught up now! And now after doing entries for not one, not two, but THREE returns in the last 7 months I am where I should be and does it feel nice. These last few years are the first time I've ever fallen behind on bookkeeping and taxes and let me just say that it is not a good place to be.

It sure was nice to emerge from the dark cave of Taxes though I think someone may have stolen one of my kidneys while I was in that cave! (just kidding -- it's that darn YouTube again! One thing I know for sure - I definitely was not at Candy Mountain.)
